A man accused of stealing beer from a convenience store dragged an officer who was attempting to thwart the robbery, Texas police say.
It happened around 10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at a QuikTrip in San Antonio, according to a report from the San Antonio Police Department.
Two officers were already at the gas station when a worker ran out of the store, telling them a man had stolen beer, police said. One of the officers then ran to the accused suspect’s Mustang and opened the door.
But the driver, police said, began to drive away with the officer still clinging to the door.
Police said the officer was dragged about 90 feet across the parking lot, according to WOAI.
The 41-year-old driver stopped the car when the officer threatened him, police told KENS.
Officers said the driver was arrested and jailed on preliminary charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer, evading arrest with a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and theft.
The officer who was dragged suffered minor injuries, police said.
